Local artist got to see their artwork displayed at the new Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, Wednesday, just four weeks before the casinos grand opening.
This $270 million casino held a community artist call back in the end of 2024 and selected 12 local artists to be displayed in the pre-function area of the 25,000-square-foot event center.
Joshua Robinson, vice president of marketing at Live! said, “we had over 70 submissions on an anonymous panel and somehow we miraculously got down to 12. So now we are putting those pieces of art on the walls inside Live! Casino and Hotel.”
On Wednesday, Jan. 15, the local artist got to see their artwork displayed on the walls with their names beside them. “I’m excited for people to come through and see it,” said Ron Smith, artist of “Huddie ‘Leadbelly’ Bluesman”.
“It’s really just magical to see them on the walls with the lighting,” said Robinson. “You just feel the spirit of Northwest Louisiana around you in these halls.”
