
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Shreveport Fire Department is partnering with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to promote Fire Prevention Week on October 5-11, 2025. This year’s theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” focuses on preventing fires caused by everyday rechargeable devices.
Lithium-ion batteries power various items, including phones, laptops, tools, e-cigarettes, and toys. If damaged or used incorrectly, they can overheat, catch fire, or explode, according to an SFD news release.
